Rooms for building, across the Midlands.

The Build Room runs hands-on AI and technology events: build nights, hackathons, workshops and talks. They bring developers, founders, designers, students and anyone curious into one room to learn something new and make something real.

We work alongside the meetups, groups and organisations already active in the Midlands, and every event says who it's for and what to expect.

How we run events

  • Midlands first.

    Events in towns and cities across the Midlands, close to the people who come.

  • Every level, one room.

    Each event says what to expect, so beginners and experienced builders can plan.

  • Hands-on.

    Most of the time is spent trying things, with short talks only where they help.

  • Looked after.

    Every event follows our code of conduct, so everyone knows what to expect from each other.

Who runs it

Hi, I'm Kashif.

I'm a Senior Technical Architect, working across cloud, AI, product development and emerging technologies. Outside work I regularly take part in hackathons, developer workshops and AI community events, particularly in London.

It was never really about the competition or the prizes for me. The part I enjoy most is getting into a room with interesting people and trying unfamiliar technologies, solving problems together and seeing how quickly an idea becomes something real.

The Build Room grew out of wanting more of that locally. My roots are in the Midlands, and so I'm starting in Leicester, working with local founders, organisers and partners.

The Build Room is community-led. Every event happens because people, groups and companies pitch in. Here are three ways to be part of it.

    Help make an event happen, and get your product into the hands of people who want to try it.

    • Builders using your product on a real problem, on the night
    • Feedback from people who have just tried it
